Disabling interior alarm.

Just got a 2002 406 estate, and cannot find out how to disable the interior alarm, for eg when leaving dogs in the car (at night when camping, grid on windows, not in sunshine). My handbook shows a panel by the handbrake with the relevant button, but it's not there on my car. A forum contributor says it should be there or by the headlight adjustment controls, but nothing in that position either.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Are you sure it has an alarm? can you see ultrasonic sensors in the windscreen pillars? Some (like mine) don't have one

+1 It may well not have the ultrasonic movement detection.

Even if it does, I don't think it 'reaches' the luggage compartment, as my dogs never set mine off, (but they're in the back behind a dog guard).
Flies will set it off in the front.

Mine has the ultrasonic sensors and if I lock the car with the key in the drivers door that disables them and stops the dogs setting the alarm off.
