My neighbour has a D9 Estate 110 diesel that has many problems, been trying to help him get it going, but, one problem eludes me.
When plugging in PP2000 all ECU's answer except the engine. We have tried using another ECU, with the matching BSI and key transponder and still fail to communicate with it. We have checked all fuse panels and traced the wires as best we can.
Has anyone had this problem and been able to solve it?
Also it is a Siemens ECU, would that make a difference, as I have never had any probs with cars fitted with the Bosch EDC15 type.

Re: PP2000 cannot talk to engine ECU
Have you done it by Global Scan or Test by ECU?
I think if you try it individually there is a drop down menu where you can select the ECU type, I think I found it before while doing a Sagem 307.
I'm not sure how I stumbled across it though....

Are you sure it's a 110? You normally only find the Siemens system on 90's.
Check the VIN code, characters 6-8 give you the engine code for example my bro's 110 estate is VF38ERHZF8......
Use this code when choosing whicg diesel engine in PP2k

Re: PP2000 cannot talk to engine ECU
I have tested Global and By ECU, same results...
Quick correction to original post....It is a 90 and not a 110 as I previously stated.

I don't know that it means anything, or helps, but I could not get mine to read the ECU, and when I called out an auto-electrician he used three different readers, and neither of them would read my ECU either.

Another possibility is a faulty connection/broken cable somewhere. The engine ecu, (& auto box), use different pins on the diagnostic connector to other ecu's, "K-line", on pins 7 & 15.

Re: PP2000 cannot talk to engine ECU
Doggy, do you have a diagram over where that cable goes? It would be interesting to test for continuity to trace it down.
I have the same problem with the ES9J4 in a pre-mux D9. Manual gearbox, and a few years ago I had intermittent connection (as in it would sometimes answer, but mostly time-out). Now it times out every time, regardsless of which fault reader I put on it, and regardless of whether I address the individual ECU or global test. All others work fine.
There's a good few threads like this by now, and it would be nice to find a proper fix.

You can get a full mux version here: http://petrila.org/repair/index.htm
Haynes has a semi mux, (as far as I can tell).
The diagram on AutoData shows diag port pins 7 & 15 linking to ecu pins 55 & 13 respectively, wire no.s 140 + 141, (for a 1999 V6).
