I feel a fake

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I feel a fake

Post by longshanks1 »

My name is jeff I go under longshanks1 , at the moment I am in limbo , I drive a 2003 , Peugeot 607 , 2.2Hdi S , I have had several faults on my vehicle since I bought the vehicle in April of this year , I am in the Peugeot forum at the moment , but in three minutes of joining this club , I have learnt more about my vehicle , which a fellow member very kindly recommended me to join yourselves because the 607 is very similar to the 406 , I hope I haven't broke any rules , but 607 owners are given limited information about our vehicles , you can post in the forum and never get a reply , so if your members don't mind a 607 owner My first fault is the ESP/ASR light illuminating and the switch is flashing , and I have a piece of German test equipment called autoaid which will not communicate with the diagnostics , because that as a fault also , it as had pp2000 coupled up to it , negative result .

Hi Jeff - welcome aboard...!!

Don't feel ashamed being here and not owning a 406, some people here drive Volvos, Mondeos and a few have 'progressed' up to a 407.

Your ESP fault, does it happen as soon as the ignition is on, or after driving it for a few mins? If it comes on when ignition is first on, this points to a sensor - if it happens after driving its probably a dirty or broken reluctor ring.

I hope this forum can club together and help you sort the problems - you are handy with wires and stuff, and I'll send you the OBD socket on Monday.

Hi Jeff & welcome aboard. 8)

As GM says, you don't have to have a 406 to join our forum, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. You 607 has much in common with the rest of us, especially us 2.2 owners.

Are you saying our diagnostic socket doesn't work? Fuse failures are common on these, unfortunately I've no way of telling which fuse it would be on your 607.
On 406's it's always a 10A fuse in the engine fusebox - wouldn't take long to check them all.

Don't worry about being an interloper mate, we've been talking about diversifying anyway. Might even end up with a 607 section :supafrisk:

Welcome aboard :D

Thank you for making me feel welcome , at some point I may be able to help , I was the Leeds Area Auto Electrical Technician for the Leeds area of West Yorkshire Police up to 2000 when I had a cervical collapse , I now realise I have missed the bus on knowledge , when I started work in 1974 it was dynamos with very few alternators , I got myself on a level playing field till health problems cut it short , but this is one of the most interesting and knowledgeable sites I have joined .
