Change Head Unit - What to do with original display
As the title says, I have a radio/cd player to fit, (just waiting for the adaptor for steering remote), and looking for suggestions as to what to do with the display at top of dash. At present it only shows radio info and outside temp, so will be a little redundant when I fit my unit. Maybe I could wire it up for a different use? The car is a D8. Cheers.

You're welcome! Do let me know if you do it, as far as I know nobody has done it except me

My old D8 GLX had a screen which became redundant except for the external temp display which I personally see no reason for in a car what so ever!
The replacement D8 LX had no display, just a cubby hole that was the perfect size for a mid range smart phone.
The display gives you an MPG readout that is not particularly accurate and a temp display that you don't need (if it was bloody cold and icey 5 minutes ago when I got in the car then it probably still is so don't hoon it around the bends!)
In conclusion...go to a breakers, grab a bog standard storage bit and bin the display it's far more useful.
No doubt someone will say how accurate thier MPG readout is but I always fill up when the light comes on and work out my usage from that so I know it's right. Not normally far off the trip but never spot on.

I am quite taken with the idea of wiring the trip computer in, and it would make a project for me over the next few days/weeks.
