Towbar multiplex relay

I have a 2001 406 hdi estate brought over to france 10 years ago from England.
A few months ago I bought a tow bar online and from the uk I have a French mechanic who has fitted the tow bar but is having a problem with the wiring and now says I need a multiplex relay that did not come with the kit that I purchased.
Can anybody let me know if I do need one to be fitted and which one to purchase.
All I will be towing is a motor bike trailer.
Any help will be much appreciated

Hi,

When I fitted a towbar to my 2001 estate I used a normal wiring kit and scotch blocked to the loom. I
haven't had any issues, trailer lights all working ok and no adverse effects to the cars electrics

I reckon your mechanic is having a laugh, none of the lighting on a 406 is actually multiplex, it's all direct feed.

All I can think is he's not much of a mechanic,you just need to identify which wire goes where in the boot area and scotchblock or similar splice into the loom.

Don't mean to sound rude , but why not contact the supplying dealer & ask them the question, if as you said you bought a complete kit
