Deactivate air bags

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Deactivate air bags

Post by scouser1968 »

Can anyone tell me how I can deactivate the air bags in my '97 406? I'd like to put my lad in front with me but with airbag on I can't.

unfortunatley the 406 has no switch so the only way round it is take the fuse out which will deactivate all the airbags

On the D9 there's a switch down by the handbrake to turn off the passenger airbag, dunno about the D8 though.

Thanks for your suggestions but I've looked in workshop manual and apparentley I can deactivate the bags by disconnecting them from the control box under the centre console.

Best do that with the battery disconnected!
If it sparks or shorts or something... the bags could deploy... lotta money literally blowing up!
