I've just changed the battery in the plip key because it was tempremental, but with new battery the the led would not come on , so I checked the voltage and lifted the contacts a bit and then led stayed on for a while going off when I pressed the button few times.
But will not trigger the central locking at all , do you think the key may need resetting?? any ideas??

Try the re-sync procedure - if you operate the key several times out of range of the car, it can lose synchronisation.
