RP number

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

RP number

Post by PeterN »

My lexia is asking for this, the only numbers I can find are on the drivers side door post, there are three on a sticker, is one of these the RP?

Thanks

Hi Peter, the RPO number and the DAM number are the same thing..

Its the long number, probably starting with 09 on a later D9, 08 on an early one.

The number to type in to Lexia/PP2000 is the first 5 digits, but knock off the 0 - so for example my 2002 car is '9370', my donor 2004 car is '9804'

The number ending in ** is the colour code.

1998 Volvo 940 auto estate - also mine

On the 406 then all start with 07, 08, or 09 and end with 89. (89 is the factory code for Sochaux.)

The number itself (except the last two digits, which are the factory code) gives the date on which the car was manufactured, epxpressed in days since 1976-10-08.

PP2k needs to know this because it knows what features were present in the car at the time it was manufactured, and changes the screens accordingly.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I must have had a mental aberration or senior moment or both as it was the C5 that wanted the RPO number. Thanks for the info anyway. I have found a sticker on the front doorpost on the C5, where can I find it on the 406?

It *should* also be on the door post viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19141&hilit=+obsidian#p196775 . You can get the out of Service Box if they're missing.

FWIW Lexia/PP2K will work with the wrong date code in most cases, (as rwb says it helps to have approximately the right number).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Thank you all very much for your invaluable information, based on that I make the 406 '8901' and the C5 '8919' and I now have a working PP2000 :D :cheesy: 8) .

Unfortunately this has opened up a whole new can of worms so I'm afraid I am going to be pestering you again. The 406 diagnosis is telling me that the ECU is the wrong one for the engine, presumably that means that its corrupted. I have seen adverts for sorting them out but as the car has done 245k miles and is a bit tatty I obviously don't want to spend a lot of money on it. Someone just down the road has offered me a complete 406 for free if I take the lot, what is the situation regarding swapping them and the key transponder?

The C5 will not talk to the lexia, it says insufficient information or something similar although you can get into the diagnostics - I can't remember how but if you bring the car details up it is showing the correct VIN, but everything you try and connect to comes up no connection.

I think this car has a faulty injector as when it gets hot it ticks over like a sick pig, I have done a leak off test but it is inconclusive, all the outputs are very similar with one being slightly higher.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Peter
