I am thinking of whether it may be a worthwhile investment to buy the diagnostic software for my Pug 406 (S reg 1998). Mine being an older model (D8 I believe?), can anybody advise me if the Lexia3 hardware kit has the relevant OBD cable for my car? The OBD socket on mine seems to be located to the right of the steering column fuse board, behind the drop down panel with the 'loose change' tray in it. There is no immobiliser keypad on my model.
From an earlier post I made, someone said that my car may also be pre- BSI, so would this be a problem with the software?
I am assuming that PP2000 is what is normally used for Pug diagnostics but see that there is a newer software called DiagBox available now, which I read is essentially PP2000/Lexia3 combined. I have also read this is painfully slow to work with?
Given the age of the car - and the fact that I am unlikely to need the Citroen (Lexia) software - can anyone advise or recommend if I should consider the newer Diagbox ?
Many thanks if you may be able to assist.

Re: pp2000 or Diagbox for 1998 406?
Diagbox is indeed a newer version -- so it's what you need for new stuff like 508s.
PP200 only works under XP, but Diagbox works under Windows 7 and 8.
PP2000 is quite usable on my XP laptop, but Diagbox is unusably slow. I had a brief go with Diagbox on an HP Envy 17 i7 but also found it unusably slow.
I have VirtualBox VMs prepared, one XP+PP2k and win7+Diagbox but am waiting to test...
