One door no longer triggers the interior lights

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Some 406 saloon / estates have - the higher spec ones, GTX, Executive, SE, possibly some others.
Being a V6, the OP's car may well have them so definitely worth checking.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Quickest thing to check, then ;) It must be one circuit through the door lock and the bulb and then going back into the car / bsi and a blown blub then causes an open circuit.

I do have lights in the door cards, so I'll have a look at the bulb. Easiest way to check it will be to open any of the other doors, since all of them turn on together. I guess fiddling with those wires may also be part of the trick if it is a contact issue.

Thanks.

Not that easy, unfortunately....

Light bulb lights up when any other door opens up. Also, wiggling the wire bundle does nothing. I guess there's not much choice left but to access the locking mechanism...
