Key fob not working

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Key fob not working

Post by cliffk »

Hi
I recently aquired a 406 HDI executive estate, both key fobs were held together with selotape!!.

I have bought replacement key fobs changed the blades, transponders and circuit boards over and fitted new button batteries but both fobs will not operate the central locking.
there is a click from the micro switches when pressed so assume they are working.
I have tried this:
Switch on ignition for 10 seconds.
Press the large plip button for 10 seconds.
switch off ignition and wait then try plip and nothing happens.

Is there some other method to pair the keys to the car?

You need to find someone with a Lexia/ PP2000, its sounds as though it is out of sync with the receiver. My 406 remote stopped working after I had left the car parked up for a while but haven't bothered to try and fix it yet. It could be that the plip is not working, if you know any radio hams or anyone else with a receiver that covers 330 mhz you should be able to hear it.

try change battery again, do the 10 secs stuff again, if it does not work try resychronise it with pp2000, if it does not work maybe u damage the electrical board.
