Supply sensors, EGR

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Supply sensors, EGR

Post by NinoB »

Hello
This same car with another issue
1. Position EGR solenoid valve : permanent fault, short circuit to earth
2. Supply to sensors short circuit to earth

I replaced the EGR with new EGR, and i actuated it, but still is showing EGR fault, and the rpm keeps fluctuating above 1000(despite i change the injector mouth i.e motorizee) ,
Meanwhile i don't what supply sensors means?

Any suggestions?

I attached the faults below

As per your other post, it is possible the power supply for the solenoid valves on the bulkhead is missing or has a poor connection. Without access to the diagrams its not easy to trace these faults but I would suggest taking precautions for disconnecting the battery then testing all the fuses in the engine fusebox.

I seem to recall an old post about an improvement made to the earthing for some of the engine sensors to eliminate something of this sort, anyone remember or have a clue how to find it?

Ok.. Lemme check the fuses.. But today I tested the Continuity of each and every wire of cylinder reference sensor, EGR, TPS, inlet manifold sensor, throttle potentiometer all down to ECU.. All the wires are continuous..
Phew.. The car is full mux.. Let check the fuses

Have you checked the actual obd2 port on your car?
Is one of the holes slightly damaged or corroded?

The port is ok.. Like I said i tried another bsi and ecu on the car.. Then scanned.. All fault gone.. So i concluded that the ecu is bad.. Now i have to buy used bsi ecu and key..
Anu suggestions where i can get cheap working types?

After swapping both the BSI and the engine ECU, did you actually start the engine?

Many faults will only appear while the engine is running.
