Well what's the difference? Well for some strange reason it's behaving more like a diesel than before! My economy's gone up by an average of 3.5mpg (up to 45.5mpg on my daily commute) and it's pulling a heck of a lot better at very low revs - you can happily accelerate away in 5th from as low as 1300rpm now without the usual deafening sound of a laboured engine. WTF? A lot of the time this week I just haven't been bothering about 1st because 2nd's just pulling beautifully. Must remember my clutch's health though...
Also interesting is the fact it doesn't seem as nippy at higher revs any more and disturbingly going anywhere over 3000rpm returns sub-10mpg (usually reserved for absolute flat-out driving)
So there you go - after unplugging your ECU, make sure you drive like you mean to go on!
Me? I think I'll be pulling the plug again very soon. The saving I'll make from the extra mpg is all well and good, but I just can't live without occasionally hearing that subtle song of the turbo
