COMM 2000 fitting?
These COMM 2000's are they difficult to fix? Just got a HDI on a 51 plate and the indicator is floppy to say the least! I can get one from ebay, but how long does it take to fix?

I dunno mate, mines a bit floppy too
. Recently it's started having this annoying habit of bouncing accross to the other side, i.e I indicate right at a junction, then pull out sharply and straighten up quickly the self cancellor pushes the stalk back to centre, but there doesn't seem to be enough resistance to hold it there, and it bounces right accross so the left indicator comes. Back to the old days of manual cancelling but the wrong way!
As far as replacing it goes, it seems pretty straightforward, but I do believe the steering wheel has to come off. I was going to do a bit of investigation to see if there's any springs in there that can be tightened up or something, but looking at picson the 'net it looks like a sealed unit
Although saying that, knowing pug it'll need programming to the car or summat daft like that

Hi,
One more thing, the be careful with a second hand one as at one time Peugeot were changing the design of the comm. 2000 unit each week. So there are millions ( I did have a list of them - I will try and find it).
You will need to ring the dealer up and find out which part number you are looking for.

HI,
IMO these should be replaced free on all Peugeots in or out of warranty as the fault/crap design could be the cause of an accident.
And charging £130 for a replacement one is outrageous considering it is only a lump of plastic with some switches. By the way all Peugeot dealers get there parts from Peugeot and then add their own 40% as well.

The problem is there not just a load of switches, that the problem with the COM2000 stuff. They are actually an embedded "computer" that communicates over a network in the car to the BSI. So you have a load of switches and a computer to buy, thats why they are so expensive and when they go they sometimes cause strange stuff to happen when they go.xplosiv wrote:And charging £130 for a replacement one is outrageous considering it is only a lump of plastic with some switches. The normal "dumb" stalks for the older cars are around £30, which is hardly a rip off

Yes using CAN bus or another form of serial communication but still these are easy to program and the micro processors (PIC/AVR/ARM) are very cheap usually a few pounds. The problem is there not just a load of switches, that the problem with the COM2000 stuff. They are still a rip off and should be given free unlike DMF faults that cause the engine to stop running this could be the cause of an accident, and the fault is poor engineering and not wear, so come Peugeot replace them for free.
