Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Has anyone come across this fault with an ecu fault = fuel pressure regulator?

Comes at random, put the car in limp (wrist) home mode and everythime i get it to a garage its working fine and always comes up with this code. Last time i checked the fuel filter it was full of bit of metal so i assume my fuel pump is eating itself slowly. The revs also fluctuate at idle too.

Does this sound terminal?

sounds like your low pressure pump has almost failed and filled the high pressure pump regulator with sh*t, or metal particles :cheesy:
eventually the high pressure pump will fail and you will need a complete fuel system, basically, both pumps fuel lines and a filter housing

Sounds pricey.

Its off for a service next week so lets see how much fuel pump is in the filter this time. Idle fluctuates to a the point where it stalls quite often now.

If the LP pump starts to break up I thought the filter will catch everything before it reaches the HP pump?

Had a similar problem in April but as it's the wife's car for ferryig the kids around, I wasn't too bothered! Until it happended to me and I was limited to 2000 revs. :x All the way home  Pug dealership were useless so took it to a Diesel specialist who diagnosed the cerine fluid for the particulate emission control system was all gone and that the filter was blocked. Total cost to rectify on a 2.2Hdi was £400.
