COM2000 (again)....

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

COM2000 (again)....

Post by DaiRees »

Mine's just starting to get mildly irritating now with the "over-cancelling" problem (straighten up quickly from a right turn and the stalk bounces all the way past centre, so the left indicator comes on  ).

Just been up to the stealer and the unit is £141 plus vodka  , so I'm gonna let it annoy me a bit more yet. But my question is how difficult is it to change myself? Does the steering wheel need to come off? Does someone want to do me a quick idiot's guide? Or do I need to get a garage to do it?

If it's a mechanical problem, can you not take it apart and see if there's anything loose in there that's causing this problem?

My none com2000 (i guessing probably same for com2000):

- remove cover between steering wheel and dash (two medium torx screws from underneath)
- Unscrew 3 small torx holding it in place
- remove stalk (it kinds unclips/slides out
- fit new/repaired stalk
- put screws back in
- re-fit cover

Took me somewhere round the 30min (would have taken less with the right torx tools). Its pretty straight forward and should cause you any probs.
