Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

New Philips X-treme Power bulbs fitted - see the difference

Post by diesel406 »

Yes - I took the plunge (previous discussion lost by !£$%&(( :x ) .... and bought a pair of Philips X-treme Power H7 bulbs ... supposed to give up to 80% more light. So here is the result - I fitted one new bulb in the driver's side headlamp ... taking photos of headlights at night is not easy but I think you can see the difference in this photo.

Right Hand Side is Philips X-treme Power

Dipped beam - Philips X-treme Power fitted both sides

There is a noticeable difference which is very clear on full beam (the photo above was on dipped beam).

here is a photo with all lights on ...

All lights on with Philips X-treme Power in dipped beams

I used the eBAY seller (sonrisa_co) who is based in Poland to save a few pence (£23.99 inc postage) .. he was very helpful when the first package went missing and replaced it with a second one including free Philips Blue Vision W5W bulbs. Shipping took 6 days but hey .. worth the wait!

Have they got a blue coating on them?

Also, you say a big difference on full beam but the full beam is a different unit on the 406 - did you upgrade the full beams aswell?

Shame you didn't get a piccy standing back looking at the car. I took my piccys with the flash turned off which made it better.

Sounds like your happy with them though :cheesy:

No blue coating on them ... well nothing I could see!

I didn't update the additional main beam bulbs - just the outside H7 bulbs.

Yes I am a happy camper! :cheesy:
