water in diesel warning light D8 1.9 dt

Hi I have got a warning light come on which indicates water in diesel

strange as the car is running sweet but we have had loads of rain here in Essex in the last 2 days , what should I do a fuel filter change

and wheres the sensor/switch unit for this ? any help or suggestions please

Car will still run if the lights on-just open the drain screw on the bottom front of the fuel filter while the engines running-if it stops re-prime with the rubber buld pump.

Hi thanx tried your suggestion but got nothing out of the drain plug , it did take in some air though

will change the filter in the next few days and have a look into the housing unit

If nothing came out then you are in for a shock when you change the filter-be lovely in there

change the filter and clean out the housing with carb,brake cleaner. if its still coming on, remove the sensor and give it a wipe with a rag dipped in clean engine oil.

the sensors are extremely sensitive and can be problematic.
