dashboard lights replacement

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

they're simple twist style ones mate. If you go to Halfrauds they'll destroy your wallet... best bet is to go to a scrappy like I did yesterday :cheesy:

You can get packs of lights (without the holders, easy enough to change them over) from a Maplins store. I've made a short post here in the past with the part number in (do a quick search for it), it's about £1.50 for 3 bulbs instead of £4 each from the dealer...

Not according to haynes! they tell me the bulbs are soldered in LED's.
I was also told by someone here that the rear high level brake lamp was not LED but is is!
Maybe depends what day the car was made!

All i knjow is my car is a '97, its got Jaegar clocks and if the bulbs I used were screw in ones (by screw in, i dont mean like a ceiling bulb, they have a little plastic base the bulb sits in).

Maybe the ones for the odometer or the centre console buttons, but the rest of the dashboard is definitely screw-in incandescent bulbs

Here is the post with the maplins part number: viewtopic.php?t=1707

I'm the owner of a 2002 model sv bva 2.0. One and half month ago I removed front panel and indicator assembly to clean inside the front plastic from the dust. I saw that the lightning based on leds completely.

hi seems to be a great deal of opinion re these lights haynes says no bulbs in instrument panel owners say there are? I wonder if those cunning peugeot people changed the instrument illumination spec around about 1999 on mk2 facelift 406s :?

Blimey

I went to the local Main Stealers and purchased just the bulbs (without holders) for 17p each for my D8 - replaced the whole lot (there are 2 different types - 1 does all the "function lights" ie. hand brake, headlight, indicator etc and the other the actual dash illumination) and I had change from a fiver!!! May I suggest W J King in sidcup for those who want genuine puggy lights at non wallet emptying proces!!!!!

my haynes manual says these are LED's & cant be replaced? Sounds unlikely that you would have to buy a new instrument panel just cos some bulbs blow? :frown:
