I have a 51 reg hdi 90 estate and have had for about six weeks now.The display in the dash that shoes the time ,radio frequency etc has some pixels missing so its not all that clear but it has always showed a little picture of a petrol pump and a mileage showing me how many miles left until i need to refuel. Today though another symbol has popped up with a mileage of 2654 or something like that. Unfortunately i cant make out what the symbol is so i cant tell whats going to happen in 2654 miles time. I havent got a handbook. Has any one got any idea what the symbol might mean?

I think you are describing the trip computor.
The symbol you are describing is how many miles travelled since being reset.
Press the button on the end of the windscreen wiper stalk. It will show how many miles left(the range)then how many miles travelled, the average consumption, the current comsumption and the average speed. When any of these are displayed besides the date, holding the button in will reset everything except the remaining range.
