Front wiper problem

Hello all has anyone else had this problem
1 severel weeks ago my auto rain sensor started to turn itself off.
2 Now if i press down on the wiper stalk for a single sweep the wipers keep continuing to operate then just randomly stop anywhere on the windscreen.
3 if i select continues sweep in slow or fast speed after a short while the wipers just stop operating, again the wipers just stop anywhere on the windscreen.
4 when i start the car up the wipers always turn on and do a single sweep of the windscreen regardless of weather condition.

My car is a 1999 mk2 20 hdi i have read that they didnt start fitting the bsi until 2000 not sure if this is correct and if fitted could this be the problem. Everything else on the car elecrical works fine.

Id gues the park sensor on the wiper motor has gone. means the wipers don't know whether they are parked or not. a few people on here have had similar probs. not sure if it means new motor or just new sensor, the answer will be on here just a matter of searching till you find it.

too late for you, but its the park sensor, you just need to replace the motor, goto the scrappy, 45 minute job
