Just thought you'd like to know.
I am assuming that the wiring problems that Airbus are having with the A380 is that the same French guy did the 406 too.
Also found over a quid in loose change so a good result all round, nice.

Well, since my cigar lighter illumination module (bulb) has operational reliability issues (it's blown) I would hereby like a short and concise method for the exchanging of said illumination device to enable a replacement to be fitted to mine.

I could give you a short answer but it would only leave you with half of the job done!
Tried to get the thing changed through the gear stick gaiter but the bulb holder fell to bits so ended taking the whole centre console out to repair it.
The gear gaiter is easy enough.
Take out the ashtray then lift the whole ashtray holder thing from the rear next to the gaiter and it lifts forward and frees the gaiter too.
It's about the only plastic component on the car that separates without fragmenting.
From then you can reach the bulb holder and pull it down to get the bulb out.
(easy if your fingers bend in six places and are very long).
You might have to rotate the lighter in it's socket if the bulb holder is to the rear of the car.
I rammed my thumb in it and turned it like that.
Swapped my bulbs for leds so I never have to do it again.

Well I shall have a go then!
This is the only bulb which doesn't work in my car so it would be nice to see it work again, perhaps I could take up smoking again to celebrate.....oh wait

try a search welly, i did a howto on this some time ago. One of those jobs that's easy if you know how but impossible if you don't
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Couldn't stop looking at it last night in the dark.
With it's eery red glow it's like Satan's bunghole.
Having said that, having to weld the two halves of the cat soon took my mind off of it (the cat on the car, not the furry bag of lard that calls himself a pet).
