Side airbag

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Side airbag

Post by djp30djp »

Blasted electronics :x , Why do they have to spoil what would be a fantastic car with all the electronic crap that we don't need & I don't want  , & its not just Pugs - modern cars are all the bloody same  .
I don't want most of the gizmo's & idiot lights on modern cars but if I want a bit of comfort & style I have no choice. I've managed hundreds of thousands of miles over 40 years of driving anything with wheels & a seat without abs, aircon, airbags,"idiot lights" to tell me I've got oil & water etc.etc. bloody etc.

Sorry, rant over, but for some reason I have an intermittent warning light which the book says is side airbag.
It comes on with the ignition as it should & goes off after a few seconds as it should, next thing I know, driving along merrily & the blasted thing comes on for no good reason & won't go off until I re-start the car  .
Please anybody got a fix for this or do I just take the bulb out. Mechanical items are no problem & I'm pretty OK with electics but electronics are a mystery so any help would be welcome.

getting it fault code read would give you an accurate idea of whats wrong. it maybe that its the wiring under the seat at fault (very common), or it maybe a fault with the side impact sensor or the bag itself.

The 'face' air bag light is common and is a cheapo connector problem under the seat with 'pre tens' labled on it.

The side air bag (the sausage next to your head shaped light) I think is a darker, deeper, annoying problem :(

My car says (on the seat base) it's got side air bags and I can feel something in the side of the seat but I have no Sausage light :( the funny thing is a friend at the dealer said that he's seen a few 406's come in with Sausage Lights on when the owner had never even seen the light on with the ignition or anythingbefore :?

Well it's still doing it but not all the time. Sometimes it will come on before I've even left the drive & sometimes it won't come on all day. I've tried to find a pattern to it i.e comes on after going over a pothole etc. but nothing, Any more ideas anyone :?: :?:

Did a Peugeot dealer do the code read, because their Global Test is very intrusive and I'm surprised if they found nothing :o
