Dash display??

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Dash display??

Post by markj2210 »

Can anyone tell me what the squares on the dash mean?

Before I start the car there are normally about 6 squares from min to max at the bottom of the display but today I noticed only 3. There is also a picture of something with a drip falling off it. Looks like its reading one of the fluid levels but I don't have the handbook.

Is it serious?

Thanks Steve.

I checked the oil and other levels straight away but the oil level is fine, its only just below the max line.

Just been out and checked it again and its on 6 squares again.

If its dropped really slightly say because of a tiny leak would that cause the guage to fluctuate. Its just that 3 squares made me think half of it was gone.

They seem to wobble about all over the place so aren't the most accurate way of keeping your eye on the oil level.

This oil level gauge fluctuates depending on whether the car is flat level or has already been running recently etc.

Sometimes my gauge flashes "min--------max" with no zeros

The gauge is quite acurate actually but best checked first thing in the morning, on a level ground. There is no substitute of course for checking it the old fashioned way though
