Hi,

I'm about to purchase a 2004 406 ST HDi station wagon. This is my first CAN bus car, and as I'm a computer professional and 'oldtimer' mechanic I'm interested in interfacing the car with a computer or a handheld code reader for monitoring and fault finding. Which of these solutions are most popular and gives me the best overview over the car's health and settings?

Which manufacturers should I select or which should I avoid? What about software...?
