Chassis number 'decoder' and GPS antenna

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Chassis number 'decoder' and GPS antenna

Post by bushtor »

Hi,

I've purchased a used '04 406 2.0 HDi stw. However I would like to know exactly which motor, equipment and 'features' (like antispin etc) this vehicle was equipped with originally.

Would this be possible to find this out off the chassis number? Does it exists tables or data to find such data on the Net?

Also, my car is not equipped with Navigation. However I would like to mount a GPS, and I wonder if there is a Navi antenna prefit somewhere (in the windscreen?) Any comments on this (and where / how to mount and exteranal GPS antenna if there is no other solution...)

regards

http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com

Register (it's free) then go to 'spare parts', put your vin in and go to 'characteristics'

In answer to your first question, go ServiceBox, register for a free account and you can type in your VIN number and find out everything you wanted to know!

woot! :D Guess what I'm up to tomorrow morning? :D Yep, trying to find wire 1368 and then trying to find a way of getting it behind the dashboard...

Anyone know what ECU pin it's on for the Bosch MP7?

Thank god for that :D The royal mail can be trusted sometimes! All the leads are in the correct place to be wired straight in, the connector will slot into the existing one.

Yeah I figured that bit out :P

The boggling thing though is the numbering on the wires - wtf did you rip this out of? It can't have been a 406!

I'll let you into a secret, I made it up myself, copied my one so you didn't have to piss about. The wires are odds and sods I had left over when I wired the leccy rear windows into my LX, may it rest in peace

Anyone knowing if a '04 406 station wagon despite lack of fitted navigation has a gps antenna (in the windscreen) with cable to use with a non-original gps unit?

If yes, where do I find (the plug end of ) the cable...?

Thanks for any hints on this issue
