Another Central Locking Fault!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Another Central Locking Fault!

Post by skylinemv »

My D9 406 HDi (90) has developed a central locking fault.

I cannot lock the doors on the key fob. I have searched the sight for other similar faults and applied that advice.

1) The fault was a door permanently locked on the rear passenger side. I ended up freeing it up by a fluke as a last resort by removing the trim from inside and squirting WD40 in it left it. When I came to lock up it was free but the whole car won't lock centrally.
2) All doors have been oiled at the locks, lots of door slaming etc.
3) The rear door was isolated with the door loom plug removed and still no joy.
4) Filler cap and bonnet checked and lubicated if necessary.
5) Not tried a BSI reset yet was not sure if that would help
6) Not tried a battery removal yet.

There may be a fix on the site but alas I cannot find it.

Currently overriding the central locking and doing it manually. :(

Fixed it

The drivers door lock was stuck and after some repeated key turning the lock would activate.

Thank the Gods for WD 40.

Had a similar prob with my remote locking not working from button on key.
Was told to insert key in the ignition turn to position 1 hold central locking button down for ten seconds remove key wait ten seconds then try locking. It worked! Its on this forum somewhere....
