another key fob related question!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

another key fob related question!

Post by locoboy »

The key fob on my 98 r reg 2.1td has 2 buttons on the fob, no keypad immobiliser.

The deadlock button (small one) has all of a sudden given up the ghost and does nothing now.

The big button still locks and unlocks ok and the red led still comes on when you press the button.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Prise the key open, check the deadlock button works when you press the button on the pcb, and if it does just get a key off ebay and switch the top casing

The red L.E.D. is merely the test for the battery.
No idea on the "smaller" button that sets the deadlock. The only time that mine has failed to work is when there is a door open; one can still lock the car but the deadlock will not work.
