hi all, im new to the forum. i have just bought a cheap 406 1.9td R-reg. the airbag light is flashing at me and after about a minute it stays on? also sometimes the rev counter goes backwards? any ideas on what to check first? cheers steve

for the airbag make sure the ignition is off

wiggle the red or orange or whateve the colour plug is, that should fix it.

any electrical fault i get on a car i undo the battery for 1 hour, 5/10 times that fixes the problem!

Yup, connectors under the front seats for the airbag light, I last fiddled with mine over 2 years ago. Heared a distinct click from one of them . No airbag light since

thanks guys, will take a look as soon as it stops raining. any ideas on the rev counter thing? i aint that worrired about it the airbag light is more important.

Hi and welcome Cornish!
The rev counter is almost certainly dodgy soldering on the instrument cluster.
If you're handy with a soldering iron it's a reasonable DIY job
