Wing Mirror controls don't work

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Wing Mirror controls don't work

Post by Tel69 »

Hi all,

First in 3 electric faults for my 406 Estate.
My wing mirror controls do pretty much nothing.
I've checked the fuses.
One post I found was interesting.

Under the drivers seat there is also a ventilated ECU casing nailed to the floor (you can see it from the rear seat footwell) and you will need this as there is a whole sh*t load of wires coming from it. I think you can get the seat to move about by frigging up a supply to the motors but the memory function needs a lot of work and is also tied in with the wing mirror position.
Guess what else doesn't work, the memory for the seat
I didn't think it would be an obvious thing that the memory for the seat and the wing mirrors are tied together.

Would this mean my first stop would be to look at the wiring under the drivers seat to fix both problems?

Thanks in advance for any advise you can offer,
Terry

Strangely enough in my case the wing mirror control magically started working.
I'd done nothing at all but decided one day to give it another try.
My seat/mirror memory still does not work, BUT the mirrors do move when I use the controls.
However my right hand drivers window control is now playing up. (Not going up, but stop the car and remove the key, put the key back in and turn it to 1 step before starting the car and it suddenly starts working again)

This indicates to me (for my case) time to look at the connection plug under the front seat and possibly cut the connector off and re-do each wire individually.
That's my task for this weekend coming.

If anyone has any insite other than this as to how to diagnose the problem I'd love to hear it.

Cheers,
Terry
