Hi guys,
ive got a 200-x plate 406 HDI 110, it only came with one key, now i found i had a spare pug remote, i think its from an 806, its a big chunky thing, with 3 buttons, and flip out key, ive managed to get it open and it has a chip inside, ive also had a new copied blade put in it, but i cant code it to the car as i dont have that magic number.
now i always assumed it would never start the car
Anyway just thought i would try it tonight, and hey presto, it started the car, but the thing is, should it start the car? cos i dont think it should, it also came up on the display 'electronic ignition fault'.
Also i cant get the remote locking/unlocking side of it to work, dont know if its compatible with my car or not.
Please help.

Re: Adding another key
Clueless, sorry. I think you'd need Pug to program it into the car for a start, and they're probably not going to be too helpful

Re: Adding another key
Hi there, pugman. sorry no one has replied
In my opinion its not coded to the car.
From my experience of the later 406 with transponder immobiliser. If you started the car with say the original key. And insert your other straight after it would start. You need to leave it. Lets say 5 mins and the new key will not start as the transponder will have kicked in. And your new key wont have the right code. Hope that makes sense?
With ref to making it lock the doors you can do that. As long as they key has been cleared of its memory. Remove battery from remote then put back im its that simple.
Then Just turn the key while in the ignition pressing the button on the remote to lock and unlock to syncronise it with key.
Then it should work.
But it is a trip to the local steelers im afraid
Costr around £50 i think.
