Radio and digital display. Gremlin in the system!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Radio and digital display. Gremlin in the system!

Post by elnino78 »

Hey folks, need some help here!!!
Ok, I've had some electrical problems for a while on my D9. It started with the radio. For some reason it kept on forgetting the saved radio stations. I would push any button and it would either jump to a random station or go scanning through the frequencies. IT ended with no radio station what so ever. It won't pick up any station and just scans.

Next problem. The digital display that tells the time and reads station and CD info. It also has, I think, a miles range or in other words, tells you how far the car will go on the amount of gas you have. I'm going to assume for now that that is what it is for. If so then this reading is well out. Filled up last week and it read 6,450, give or take. Next day it went to 16. Day after 24 and so on. Kept going up in short bursts even though the gas was going down. Filled it up again from half a tank yesterday and it read 205.

Does any one know how to fix these problems? Are they related? I've read about something called a BSI unit. Apparently it deals with the electrical components and can sometimes do fun things. Is this the culprit?

Like I said, need some help!!! PLEASE!!!
