Headlamp Removal Guide

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Headlamp Removal Guide

Post by stev6e »

Hi all,

I need to remove my front n/s headlamp assy to resecure the main beam clip that holds in the filament, it has detached from the back of the reflector.

I've had no joy trying to do it in situ, neither have some of my work colleagues (it's amazing how much attention raising the bonnet gets you in the works car park at lunchtime) :cheesy: :cheesy:

In the abscence of Haynes manual, can anyone give me any tips on how to do it....other than dismantle the car until it comes out

Location and number of screws etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

3 bolts, 2 on the top and one on the front by the fans. This final bolt by the fan is a complete bitch to get to, and I couldn't figure out a way to do it properly without removing the front bumper. You'll also have to undo the indicator spring thingies (remove rubber gromit inside wheel arch for this and use long nose pliers recommends Haynes).

There's a bolt by the high current fusebox which is a pain to get to too
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Thanks HimBigChief, sounds similiar to the beloved's 206 (think I know what you mean by the spring thingies), had to play about with her front bumper (the 206, not the wife  ) to get to the third bolt by the fans.

Will have a go over the weekend !!
