Cruise Blues

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Cruise Blues

Post by Doggy »

Mine's just died on the way home
Working fine on the A14, switched back on after the roundabouts and nothing.
Tried fiddling with brake & clutch pedals, selector switch on & off etc, tried 4th too, nothing.
Any ideas people :?:

First thing to check is the switches on the brake and clutch pedals. Careful not to mess up the brake light switch like I did

Check the fuse too

Had a look at BoL - looks like the same fuse for stop lights & c.c. & it appears to have two switches on the brake pedal :frown: Can't be sure cos mine hasn't got all the petrol c.c. gubbins......

One of the brake pedal switches is for the cc, the other is for the brake lights

The clutch switch on one of mine had a habit of popping out of the bracket but some superglue fixed it

Sorted! 8)
Just decided to work today, though I'm now thinking a bit of dust in the stalk, as it failed to respond to the increase/set button at least once.....

Looks like the approved technique for 406 electronic gremlins should be 'leave it in the garage overnight'
(Cured the Anti-Pollution Fault too).

Can you actually use the 'Cruze' and relax with it though?

Every time I try it some other motorist ruins my 'cruise space'.

I find it worse than driving with your foot on the pedal for sure.

I must say, I don't particularly like the cruise control on the '6. When maintaining speed, it *seems* to be quickly alterternating between full throttle and no throttle. My crappy Honda used to do it in quite a smooth fashion...

Could be just perception, though... :?

I asked the Volvo to 'resume' to 80mph in 3rd and it went for it

It did it in a steady way though, but I was surprised. Might try 2nd gear tonight

Generally though I wouldn't say I really use the cruuuze..

My ES9J4 saloon was very smooth working the pedal... when the cruise worked...
The coupe, forget it. It's on the todo list to fix

I love crooze, use it every day without exception. :D

You really have to adapt your driving style (and maybe your attitude too) to get the best out of it though.
