ok, im actually talking on behalf of my dad, i own a 106

basically the other day something went wrong with his car, meaning he had to phone the AA

they said something about a key code going and he would need to get one from the peugeot dealership.

can anyone give some insight into this, if he really needs to go to peugeot, is there a way of sorting this problem out, if someones expereinced this

When you say key code is there a keypad by the drivers knee for the immob?
If so the wiring has been known to break on the back of these; have a search, there are posts on this.

yh thats it mate

my dad said the mehchanic needs the code to turn the car on everytime works done to it???

but he cant find the code i think, is there any way of resarting it or getting another one/original one found

i will search, but if someone can give me links it would be more then helpful

If you haven't got the code for the keypad you will need to visit a main dealer. Have a look in the handbook, quite often it's written in there; originally the car would have had a card with the code on it.

Its a long shot, but the factory setting keycode is 0000. But they are usualy changed by the initial buyer. Worth a go!

I had a similar problem, and flattened my battery trying various things to get it started, in the end, i had the battery disconnected while i recharged it. By the time i re-connected the battery, a couple of days later, the immobiliser just started working again. I know, its not very technical, but its free, so again, its worth a go!!

If all else fails, you can send the ECU away to various companies up and down the country that will bypass the immobiliser for you permanently (just put 'immobiliser code bypass' in google to find them. Some even do a call out service, they plug your keypad into a laptop, and bypass it permanently. (I was quoted around £70 for this service, but luckily, mine started working again, so i didn't get it done!!) Unfortunately, this means you will no longer have an immobiliser, so dont let any car thieves know!!
