O.B.D. / Diagnostic socket

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

O.B.D. / Diagnostic socket

Post by coco »

Anyone know where the O.B.D. socket is on a 2000 coop?

I think it should be compliant but can't see it in plain view. So, before I start pulling all sorts of things out/off any hints gratefully received

if the coupe is like the saloon it should be next to the fuse box down by the drivers leg, but it will almost not be compatable with the EOBD readers you get on ebay and the like, as the standard started 2002

hope this helps!

The standard was made mandatory in Europe from May 2001.

CAN Bus is the latest protocol,

I stand corrected on the date - but i'm still sure that the interface will not be readable due to the date of the vehicle.

a 2000 petrol will only be readable by a dealer, or someone with a bloody expensive interface. If you want to plug something into it yourself, you'll be looking at £500 plus illegal software

That's pretty cheap  (shame about the 40 quid postage to here and the import tax they slap on anything from evilbay now :( )

Hey, if this thing reads a '99, will it do the whole lot? (Or is that impossible?)

I dont know that. But I have tried it on a 2006 Opel(vauxhall) Corsa and that worked. I have also tryed it on a 2006 Vw Transporter but no go. Dont think i works on VAG cars. I works on a 1996 Ford escort 1,8
