ELM327
Hello,
Anyone had problems with ELM327 showing fault codes? It says I have a fault code, it allows me to clear them and then when it comes back correctly identifies that I have a fault code but just refuses to tell me what the damn thing is!
The car is a 406 1999 2.0 HDI 110
Thanks,
Phil

Update on this issue!
I've gone out and bought a U585 which is basically an U581 and VAG 5053 in one unit, It picks up the protocol as KWP2000, but does nothing else what so ever, doesn't even know the MIL is on! No live data, nothing, not a damn thing!
I've plugged the device into the 08 Mazda 2, the device works like a charm, so it's not the device!
Faulty ECU perhaps? Any ideas? i'm at a real loss!

Pugs (and Citroens) didn't start using standard protocols reliably until 2001. Before then it was very hit-and-miss with the HDi ECUs as to what protocol and variant they speak. Pre-2001 Petrols and the TDs have next to no chance of being read by anything cheap bar a lightbulb

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: ELM327
I can read mine. Including live data. Peugeot 406 Hdi 1999(110Bhp) I am using a U581

Re: ELM327
Such a shame, oh well, chances are i'm ditching the car anyway as I really do not have the time to spend on a car that requires so much attention in order to make any progress with this problem!mjb wrote:Pugs (and Citroens) didn't start using standard protocols reliably until 2001. I have ordered one of these off ebay with the view that if it reads anything I'll be lucky, if not it goes back on ebay.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
