HDi Rev Counter signal

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

HDi Rev Counter signal

Post by wiggybum »

I am using a HDi engine in a different vehicle. This vehicle has a petrol engine rev counter.

I don't have access to an oscilliscope so can't determine what sort of signal a HDi rev counter requires.

Does anyone know if the signal from the HDi ECU is suitable to drive a 4 cyl petrol car rev counter (i.e. one that works from the LT side of the ignition coil). It would save me a world of hassle if it did! I can't imagine Peugeot used 2 different counters in their clusters.....could they?

The only other option was to use one of these:

I'm still not sure if the alternator has a speed related pulse...
