Auto-dimming mirror, has anyone fitted one of these?

Just wondering if the auto-dimming rear view mirror can be fitted into lower spec cars?

If it is:~ What's needed to hook it up, and how is it fitted?

I've got one in my 406 from a Laguna (much cheaper than 406 ones) and I've got a BMW 3 series one in my 309. Fairly easy to fit. Just need to work out what wire does what and then give them power accordingly.

There is a function of the mirror which clears the tint when you select reverse gear.....that would be interesting to wire up

I'm considering on fitting one of these also. As anyone posted a Guide on here? I guess you can get the 12v from the interior Map reading lights? Or is it worth getting a 12v from another source..

Presumably like a lot of these extras there may be a plug hidden away for this. Probably behind the mirror mount, where the light and rain sensors are fitted, to allow you to hook it up.

IIRC I just hardwired mine to the map reading lights, or whichever power lead I found up there that had 12V on ignition. No need to have the auto dimming when the ignition is off as it would just flatten the battery. There may well be a plug already fitted, but I don't think I could find one on mine. Can't really remember!

Took me a while to find them too. Can't find the ones I used but here's one I found on the pixelcars forum. I modded all mine to look a bit like my car...

Will this work ? I would like to put my auto dimming mirror doing the auto tint removal when reverse gear is engaged ... i think first i'll try to search for the plug for the auto dimming mirror if it has one anyway ..
