2001 hdi Cigar Lighter fuses

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

2001 hdi Cigar Lighter fuses

Post by paulb2004uk »

Hello,

I noticed my Cigar Lighter Socket had stopped working. Checked fuse under dash and found fuse 23 blown.
Replaced with new 20amp fuse. Lighter now only works with ignigtion switched on. Before it worked with
ignition on or off.

Is there another fuse somewhere, can't find any mention in the handbook or the Haynes manual

Thanks for any help

Paul.

Firstly it should be a 10A fuse. Put any more current through it and you could melt or set fire to the wiring.

Secondly, you've put the fuse in wrong. Note there are 3 slots for the lighter socket fuse. You've got it in the wrong 2 if you want it on permanently. It's generally considered a bad idea though, as you can easily flatten your battery by accident

MJB,

I took the blown fuse from this socket and replaced like for like, the handbook also states as 20amp
fuse.
