Can't recode my new key

My gf lost our key so i ordered a new one from peugeot, it arrived the next day but the guy who is recoding it to the car says his computer won't communicate with the ECU. According to him there may be water in the passenger footwell affecting the wiring. He is saying i have to send the ECU away to be-in his words-virginised. Is there anyway to sort the problem without doing this. i.e fixing the wiring. HELP!

Have you had any problems with the car? There have been problems with water in the drivers footwell corroding the multi connectors, lift the carpet up & check for any signs of water damage.

Thanks for the welcome. Is there anyway to fix it if the connections are corroded.

Just give them a good spray with contact cleaner or WD and scratch the corrosion off the pins with a screwdriver.
If they're beyond salvation you may have to splice in a new connector; do a continuity test between both sides of the plugs once you've cleaned them up to check. You should be able to get a multimeter lead into the back of both connectors.

Thanks for the advice. Would you believe my 2 year old has now found the original key, stashed in a candle holder GRRRRRRRR, don't you just love em? Will still try fixing it and getting the new spare recoded.
