possessed horn keeps going off by itself

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I own a 406 hdi 110 2002. The horn keeps going off randomly by itself and also when i touch the steering wheel. I have had some one look at it, and they cant find out whats up, they cleaned the contacts and checked the button.

Must be either the cable that connects the horn, or the button in the steering wheel itself. Must be one of these if it only happens when you turn the wheel.

it has started to go off when the car is parked as well. it starts as random beeps then stays on till i disconnect the battery. when it happens whilst driving, the center off the steering wheel becomes very sensitive to touch and goes off very easily and if you pull slightly on the steering wheel e.g. going over speed bumps this sets it off as well. but all of this stops for a few days then starts again.

Have a look at this
I think you could have a problem with the horn connector under the airbag.
Failing that the actual switches - either way, if you can get at it, you should at least be able to disable it while you find a solution.
