front and rear wipers not working at all.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

front and rear wipers not working at all.

Post by mickeydread1122 »

i have posted here requesting some help, however i have managed to fix some the gremlins affecting my car.but i need your assistance in solving this electrical issues,i have checked all the fuses after borrowing the owner's manual from a friend but the front and rear wipers on my 406 estate HDI 2001 model executive are not working at all.the fuses are fine and if i press the stalk water is coming onto the windscreens without any problems but the wipres arent working at all.does it mean both rear and front wipers needs replacing at all.is it something to do with earthing or not.
another issue is the front windows are not working either, i have taken the driver's side switch and checked for water ingress but its very dry without any rust at all.the fuse is perfect as well.however the rear switches are working and can open rear windows without any problems.if the driver's side switch is knackered will it affect the passenger switch as well as i cannot open the window through the front passenger side as well.
any help will greatly be appreciated.

Sounds potentially like a bsi fault, have a search on bsi reset for starters!

Edit: Peel back the carpet in the drivers footwell and check for any signs of corrosion around the multi connectors as well :)

hie TEAMSTER1975 thanks for your advice and i have google searched on how to reset the BSI unit and there is procedure to open the driver's side window as part of resetting the BSI unit so will it work if i do the rest of the reset whilst there is someone seated inside the car provided i check all the multiconnectors under the carpets for water ingress and corrossion as well.
any suggestions please
