P reg 406 2.1 not starting

Post by festers »

A problem started about 2 weeks ago car was parked after driving, the next day it would not start. Motor turned over after entering the keypad numbers but would not start. I changed the battery because it ran down pretty quickly. After changing the battery it started . It started for about 2 days and the problem reapeared i entered the code a couple of times and it started. Well today I went out and it will not start again even entering the code does nothing. I changed my code to a different number and put it on the automatic setup and still it won't start. I was wondering if the imboliser could be causing the problem???

The control circuit was good the glow plugs are original and just gave up after 100,000 miles. Who knows only one of them was still good but when the weather got colder it wasn't enough for it to start.

just an idea, had this in germany last year, i had filled up my car somewhere there , and it was bad diesel.... meaning that because of the cold the diesel was becoming gel like ...
if it is so the glowplugs wont warm up enough, and the injectors wil have a hard time psuhing it through

i would suggest taking out your back seat , and taking a look in your fuel tank, maybe take a sample and comparing to some from a petrol station

if it is so , then you have to pump out the remaining diesel , also empty the fuel lines , also empty and change fuel filter . i had this done in a german peugeot garage and it cost me 250 euro's ; but i could hae done it myself though.

i am not saying this is your problem but could be

I just changed all 4 glow plugs (the 2 on the left were a bit tricky) and the car started in about 1 second. Problem solved. Also found the electrical connections on the left were loose , might have been the problem. I also bought a can od easy start, hope I never have to use it. Thanks for all your input on my problem.
