Electric window that won't close at speed

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Electric window that won't close at speed

Post by EvilTwin »

Strange but true, when I get over 55-60 and up :D my drivers electric window wont close, it gets almost to being closed then opens up 2-3" I know this is the facility to stop kids trapping their fingers in the windows, and probably caused by the increased air pressures at higher speeds.

I either have to open my rear passender window to balance the pressures in the cabin space, or slow down to close them.

Is there a fix for this, or is it the crazy french, and their unusual design methods?

I hate that. Usually end up taking it near the top then dabbing it closed...

I think the fix is to get a can of silicone grease and lube up the tracks the window slides in. Remind me to go to Halfrauds tonight and give it a try

Would fitting wind deflectors remove this problem?

Noep, they'll just make it worse. I fitted wind deflectors to my D8 and it now almost closes the window then opens it fully, never had this happen once when I didn't have them fitted. Quite annoying when buzzing along on country roads/dual carriageway (all we get up here).

Had the same thing happen on a picasso I fitted deflectors to. Ended up ripping one off myself so I could drive through a car wash with the windows closed.
