Key Programming

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Key Programming

Post by peugeot406rapier »

hello everyone,

the radio key didnt work on my white D8 LX when i bought it i put new batteries in it today and finally the little red LED on the fob lights up when you press the button, does the key have to be re-programmed to the car? if so is there a knack to it or does it have to be done by a computer at a garage, it has a keypad immobilser so im guessing the key isnt linked to the immobiliser its just to the cental locking?

thanks

Martin

There's a re-synchronisation procedure detailed in the handbook :)

And it doesn't always work! :(
Matt; have you found any option to sync keys in the peugeot planet software? I never got mine to resync after the alternator & battery woes last year.

thanks for your responses guys but as if my magic it started working on its own today i had a heavy box in my hand and by habit i pressed the button on the key but when i pressed the button it opened and then it only hit home when i realised i was using the white one today so thats one less job to do just gonna order a new pair of buttons for the key fob off ebay as the main one is missing and the deadlock button is destroyed! watch this space..after a a good look at the car tomorrow ill have a whole load of questions to ask, things ive not experienced on either of the 406s ive had in the past :?

I've been too scared to go near that stuff on my coupe - that's one bit that actually works... My dad's D8's central locking ECU won't speak to the PP for some reason though :(
