Hi all, I came across a stray connectors at the weekend when i was trying to get my cigarette lighter working and was just curious what they werefor.
I took the centre console out as I'm not getting power to the lighter and i want to be able to charge phone/sat nav etc.
I found a yellow connector running from the hand brake area forwards but nothing for it to plug in to, and a slim grey connector with 4 wires running into it coming from under the dash. The grey connector pushes into a retaining clip to the right of the gear stick but there is no terminal for it, it simply sits there doing nothing as far as i can see.
the c/lighter cable and ashtray light wires are in position so I'm at a loss as to there purpose ? it did cross my mind they may relate to my lack of an mpg readout on the trip computer ? but I'm guessing my auto electrics stops at bulb changing and maybe fitting a stereo lol !!
btw it's a 97 1.9td GLX if that helps

Re: Connector confusion
Loads of reads but no replies
I know I found some unused connectors under the centre console on my D8, there were two four-pin square ones for the seat heaters, but I'm not sure what your describing there. I thought the yellow one was the handbrake switch, which might have been removed to stop it giving the traditional "low brake fluid" warning, not sure about the grey one, unless it's for the lights and buttons on an automatic gear selector.
