changing out the cd in my d8 td exec

Post by chill3r »

hi loverly people

i'm sick of the old phillips cd changer in my Pug and i want to get rid of it now - usual problems of multidisc only works sometimes and tape doesnt work - speakers etc are sorted thou.

so just wondering a few things - can i just buy a cheap cd/mp3 player and take old one out and then drop new one in ??? or will i have to make or do any modifications to the dash board??

i only really have the need for listening to a few mp3's/cd's so dont want to spend hundreds on a head unit.

TIA

You just need a fascia to convert the funny shaped hole to a normal rectangular slot. They're under £20 from Halfrauds.

To keep the steering wheel stalk you need a couple of adaptors from Autoleads(?) which ain't that cheap...

if your car has the jbl system (this is fitted to most execs, not certain on the d8 exec thou) with with power amp you will probably need a head unit with pre outs and then wire this in in place of the normal speaker outputs.

The low level signals will then be amplified by the jbl amp (in the boot) to the correct level. If you connect the standard speaker outputs to the amp it will be very out/ or damage your speakers.

It's not standard on D8 execs...

hi guyz

went for the plunge today - bought a sony system - ripped the old standard out and hey presto took me all of 20 minutes to fit the new one in - ordered a face plate off fleabay for 6 quid . .. . speaker system upgrade now - but to be honest it sounds bang on with the standard - just having troubles now fetching the parcel shelf speakers out - how do these come out ??

In the boot there is a locking ring you unscrew-then lift em out from inside the car.
