CLARION CD CHANGER AMP POWER FEED WIRING

Post by richypoos »

hI ALL,
Just bought a 97 1.9 td with a clarion cd multichanger. Its not connected to the cassette head unit as far as i can tell but has its own small control unit. This is attached to what i presume is an amplifier above the passenger footwell which is in turn connected by a cable to the multichanger in the boot. The trouble is the power feed to the amp has been disconnected. There are 2 wires, one yellow with an inline fuse, the other red that connect to the 'amp'. Any ideas how or where to connect these??

Many thanks,
rich

ok so iv'e found out that the yellow wire is to ignition/on off power and the red wire is to constant power feed (battery). Or is that the other way round!? Still dont know where to wire these in to. Its a peugeot supplied changer as fitted to the car originally(i think). Theres a black ariel lead that went from the phillips head unit to the changer amp with another black lead between the two which may plug into back of head unit

cheers

sounds like an FM modulator changer, you'll need to find out what frequency it runs on, i had an old sony one that worked arround the 88.x frequency, the changer is connected to the thing you think is an amp, which is supplied with an earth, permenant live and ignition feed, this little box the has the aerial conected to it which then connects to the radio aerial port, there should be a small control pad that changes the discs and switches the unit on/off

See if you can get any model numbers or anything off it, then stick it in a search engine.

hi
they are wired up to a sort of amp that is earthed to the chassis. out of this comes all the connections to head unit and changer. looks like theyve been cut and are loose
