PU-1633A(C) for PU-1646A

Post by cliver »

Please can anyone help, I've recently purchased a 406 with Head unit PU-1633A(C) not working properly. Purchased a PU-1646A (identical looking) on E-bay. I know I'll have to get it re-coded, but I connected it up earlier and was expecting to hear it work albeit with bleeps. It actually did nothing at all, i.e. appeared dead. The advert definitely confirmed the unit worked fine. Can anyone shed any light PLEASE. Clive.

Is the PU-1646A the one from the JBL setup and is meant to be used with the jbl power amp?

When you say it doesn't work what to you mean, any messages, does it turn and the screen come on, or do you just not get any sound?

Hi mbello666,

No messages, no sound, nothing.

You mention the PU-1646A runs with a power amp, does the PU-1633A not (I've not come across one in the car yet)?

I've probably bought the wrong thing - if I manage to find a PU-1633A have you any idea what the additional digit in brackets means IE the old one is a PU1633A(C). In other words is the (C) important?

Thanks for any help.

That was an educated guess, i can't remember the model number of the top of my head, but i think mine (with jbl system) has a model number similar to PU-1646A.

I guess the C is just a rev indicator and probably isn't important.

if the radio is not powering up i'd check the power supply to it and things like fuses.
